Is Hemp Extract The Same As CBD?

CBD products have gained quite a following. But due to gray areas in its legislation, companies and consumers have to work around stringent labeling and strict product wording to comply with government and marketplace requirements. All of this adds a great deal of confusion for both manufacturers and consumers. Consumers are left with the question, is hemp extract the same as CBD? Hemp Extract vs CBD.

CBD & THC

Cannabidiol, commonly known as CBD, is among hundreds of cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. The cannabis plant can be broken down into two types.

First is the hemp plant. Some products containing CBD extracts are derived from the hemp plant. Being a cannabis plant, it may contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) but no more than 0.3% by dry weight. Hemp’s notorious cousin, marijuana, has a larger THC concentration, the component responsible for the “high” when taken in.

While marijuana and similar products remain to be Schedule 1 Controlled Substances and are virtually illegal in the US, the use of CBD has gained mainstream popularity. It is, in fact, a very flourishing industry. The passage of the Farm Bill of 2018 has legalized the hemp extract and bolstered its acceptance even to most skeptics.

As far as labeling is concerned, we know this is where it gets confusing, but the government and marketplaces are more concerned with where your CBD came from, Hemp or Cannabis/Marijuana due to the varying levels of THC. If that makes sense..

There are different types of hemp extract products out there. Most brands offer full-spectrum CBD, broad-spectrum CBD, or an isolate.

Full-spectrum CBD is the most natural of all of the processes. This is what Golf Gummies choose to use. These products contain high amounts of CBD while keeping all of the other beneficial cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids. Full-spectrum may also contain trace amounts of THC. Still, as I mentioned before, no more than .3% will not cause any high or undesired effects. Check out our lab report here to see that our Full-spectrum CBD Hemp extract contains 0.0% THC.

A Broad-spectrum product has been processed by a lab to remove all of the cannabinoids to altogether remove the THC. Then all of the components are reassembled a-la Frankenstein to be put back together to contain some of the original cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes.

Lastly, as the name implies, a lab has processed CBD isolate even further to have all of the terpenes, flavonoids, and other cannabinoids removed, leaving just the CBD.

Understanding Full-Spectrum and Broad-Spectrum CBD Labels

When it comes to Hemp derived CBD products, the title hemp extract is all-encompassing. Once a product has hemp extract stamped on it, it could be a full-spectrum CBD product (with trace amounts of THC) or a broad-spectrum CBD item without THC. Also, it may be an isolate that only contains CBD.

Our products are labeled carefully and correctly at Golf Gummies to be available in all markets and open to golfers ages 18 and older. Despite the label, you should have a closer look at the individual components. Additionally, you can check out our lab results. We knocked the cover off the ball and over-deliver with THC-free edibles. Certificate of Analysis (COA) here.

Confused? You’re not the only one. Let’s dig a little deeper. As the hemp extract’s popularity has grown in the past couple of years, there has been some confusion. We will try to address some of the chaos and misconceptions around this natural and beneficial product, especially its labeling.

Hemp Seed Oil is NOT the Same as Other Hemp Extracts

Before we finish today’s blog, we would like to add a little public service message. Despite the seemingly encompassing nature of products with “hemp” labels, there are still products and labels that you should closely inspect.

One of which is hemp seed oil. As the name suggests, this is a type of oil extracted from the seeds of the hemp plant. Unfortunately, unlike the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant, its seeds do not contain CBD.

Spending on essential supplements such as CBD products is already an added expense as it is. Not everyone has the luxury or the cash to spare for such. For those who do, we don’t want you to fall prey to this highly preventable mistake. We want you to experience the benefits of using an authentic CBD-containing product and get the most out of your money at the same time.

At Golf Gummies, we have come up with CBD rich hemp extracts that may help you improve your health and performance. To view our products check out our shop. Should you have questions or clarifications, do not hesitate to send over an inquiry, and we’ll get in touch as soon as possible. Cheers!
